How calculator inputs are handled
All calculations run in your browser. Typing a salary, state, retirement income or personal budget does not submit a calculation to a server, and our analytics never record them.
A few tools remember your entries in your browser's local storage, which stays on your device and is never sent to us: the salary and filing status you last entered (so the next calculator starts from them), and the ticks, move date and state on the moving checklist and moving timeline. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes them. Our cookie policy lists every item the site stores.
Some links and calculators put your entries in the page address (for example ?salary=85000) so a result can be bookmarked or shared. When you open such an address, it is requested like any other page, so it can appear in our hosting provider's logs.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, time of visit) to keep the site secure and working. We do not use these logs to identify you.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to count visits and see which tools are used. It uses cookies to tell visits apart; Tag Manager itself sets no cookies and only loads the Google Analytics tag. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland these cookies are set only after you press Accept in our cookie banner; until then Google Analytics receives only cookieless signals that don't identify your browser. Wherever you are, you can change your choice with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page, or block Google Analytics with Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Google processes this data as described in how Google uses information from sites that use its services. The cookie policy lists each cookie and how long it lasts.
Besides the pages you visit, Google Analytics records when a calculator result is updated (which calculator, not what you entered), when you finish the relocation quiz, follow a link under a result use a share button, calculate a personal budget or request a printable report. We remove calculator values from page addresses before they are sent.
Advertising and cookies
This site doesn't show ads at the moment. If we add them, this section will name the ad provider and explain its cookies.
Your choices under U.S. state privacy laws
Residents of California and other states with consumer privacy laws may have the right to know, delete, or opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising. Because we don't collect calculator inputs, the main data involved is the advertising or analytics cookies described above, which you can control with the links above or your browser settings. To make a request, email privacy@relocatemath.com.
Children
This site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

We will update this page if our practices change, and revise the date above.
